What cannabis use disorder means
Cannabis use disorder is a clinical pattern in which use continues despite meaningful problems or becomes hard to control. Risk rises with more frequent use and with starting at a younger age. Withdrawal can include irritability, sleep difficulty, reduced appetite, anxiety, restlessness, and craving.
Cannabis findings depend on the product, dose, route of administration, population, and outcome measured. A result about one cannabinoid or formulation should not be generalized to every cannabis product.
How strong is the evidence?
We weigh systematic reviews and well-controlled human studies above observational reports, case series, animal studies, and laboratory experiments. Each can answer useful questions, but they do not support the same degree of certainty.
Population estimates depend on definitions, survey methods, potency, and exposure patterns. A checklist cannot diagnose an individual; concern about control, withdrawal, school, work, relationships, or safety is a reason to seek a qualified assessment.
